OZZY OSBOURNE Doesn't Understand Politicians
October 22, 2014Noisey has uploaded the second of three "Back & Forth" videos featuring legendary BLACK SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne and his son Jack Osbourne. Check it out below.
During a brief discussion about politics, Ozzy recalled running into former British prime minister Tony Blair at a charity event. He said: "I met Tony Blair one time, the old English Prime Minister, and he looked at me and he comes over, and this was just when the Iraq war started. I thought he was gonna come up to me and say, 'You could very good for the country by doing a song or something for the troops.' He comes up to me and he goes, 'Do you know I was once in a band? Although I couldn't quite get the chords to 'Iron Man'.' And I [thought], 'Is that all you've got to fucking say?'"
He added: "We vote these people in, and they never seem to pull off all this shit that they promise us to get [into office]."
Osbourne sounded a similar sentiment during an interview with Esquire, telling the magazine: "One thing I try to stay away from is talking politics. I don't understand them. I don't. I don't understand how we all go nuts for a few months to get the people into office and then they never do a fuckin' thing they said they were gonna do anyway. If there's a job ad in the newspaper saying 'Builder wanted' and you show up for the job and they say 'Can you do this?' and you say 'Yeah, yeah!' And they go 'Start Monday' and then Monday they say 'Can you do what you said?' and you say 'No,' you'd be fuckin' fired! So what's the deal with politicians, eh? I don't get it. They should all start to play rock and roll, I think."
Ozzy Osbourne's recently released compilation, "Memoirs Of A Madman", serves as a career-spanning audio release, featuring 17 of Ozzy's greatest hit singles compiled in one place for the first time in his career. It is available in a single CD, two-LP set and two-LP picture-disc-set configurations.
